St. George Dance Groups 2024-2025
The purpose of the dance group is to promote, preserve and perpetuate our Greek culture and traditions through dance.
Being in the dance group is a fun experience where the dancers are able to establish friendships with their fellow peers but also have an opportunity to learn more about their Greek heritage and faith under an Orthodox Christian environment.
Our dance groups perform at various events such as dinner dances and festivals at our parish and at other parishes in the Tampa Bay area throughout the year.
They also participate at the Hellenic Dance Festival (HDF) competition which takes place at different cities/parishes in the Metropolis in January (this year it will be in Winston Salem, NC) and the Greek Independence Day parade and dinner dance in Tarpon Springs in March.
We currently have 3 dance groups divided by grade levels and we practice on Monday nights during the following times:
- Psihoules: 6:15pm-6:35pm Pre-K to Kindergarten
- Asterakia: 7:00pm-7:30pm 1st grade to 5th grade (Elementary age)
- Patrida: 7:30pm-8:15pm Middle and High School grades
Our dance instructors/assistants are:
- Georgia Rigas: 727-389-0310
- Meny Moros: 917-335-5742
- Areti Strongylos: 727-514-4758
If necessary when there are not many dancers coming to an event such as the younger groups we may have to combine them to have enough dancers perform.
We welcome all new dancers and look forward to seeing returning dancers and having another exciting and fun dance year!
